Jim and Dan’s WRX lost alternator power a scant 13 miles up the Dempster highway dashing their hopes of piloting it to the Arctic Ocean. Thankfully it chose that point only 13 miles of the 500 mile drive. The full team returned to Dawson City, we parked the WRX at the El Dorado Hotel and put Dan and Jim into the Mazda 323 and BMW 325iX. We will haul Dan and Jim North to complete the mission. We are two hours behind schedule and are back on the road to Inuvik. More on events when we arrive in Inuvik tonight.

Oh oh. I seem to recall that the WRX got a different alternator before the event.

Do I need to wire youall more ‘soul fluid’ money? Sorry to hear of the alternator issue….please tell me you did not install a LUCAS unit…huh?

aarrrggggh!!! Hugs from your Free State Fan Club. I know that’s not as nifty as a new alternator and a time machine Big Bro, but it’s the best we have to offer for the moment. Keep on keepin’ on…the gang of 6 in Laurel

Hey guys. The TeamD backup Rover is now in Dawson City. (I’m at the Downtown Hotel — with internet access in the bar. They really know how to work things, here in the North!) Hope the rest of the Dempster treated you better. I’m here until Tuesday morning (but will be out on a sled dog tour the first half of Monday); let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

Oh no! I feel responsible somehow, after posting the story of our truck’s two ruined alternators in the wilds of Canada.
Glad to read that Jim and Dan are pressing on, car #11 or not!

Jim and Dan, So sorry about your car. It is true anything can happen on this rally!! Glad to hear you haven’t given up and are continuing on. Way to go! You wouldn’t want to miss the whole experience. I am sure there will be some good stories. Sorry my cookies didn’t give you more luck….
