Coast to Coast prep

Just got done buttoning up the car so it’s ready for next weekend’s Coast to Coast event. Held on Vancouver Island, this year it’ll be an all night rally. Start at 2000 in Campbell River, and end the next morning at 0700 in Courtenay. Their intent is to use some better/smoother roads when logging traffic is not running. In past years it’s been a two day event and had a reputation as being tough on cars.

Apparently I’m the sole TeamD driver who could get a release for Mother’s Day weekend but I’m long overdue for this event.

This will be my first time driving anywhere on the island, and I’m really looking forward to it. Hans’ second rally in the navigator’s seat will allow him to get more familiar with the Timewise computer. We’re going up Friday evening so will be well rested for the all nighter experience on Saturday.

Thanks to Hans for the help rewiring the valve that helps control the turbo on the green Saab. Eventually we’ll have the whole dang thing with a new nervous system.

Anyhow, while turnout is relatively low according to the Coast to Coast web site the competition looks to be very tight, with experienced and capable folks coming from Oregon, Arizona, Washington, and of course British Columbia. I doubt we’ll have any updates during the event — look for something here Sunday evening.

    Hi John.

Sorry I saw your note this late. I don’t see the results on the rallybc.com site. How did it go? We will be up for Totem and Thunderbird as usual. Hope to see you there.
