Alcan Rally Start Order
Feb
2008
The Alcan Winter Rally is only 16 days away. Just a few days ago, rally chairman Jerry Hines posted the provisional start order. Jerry assigns the order giving preference to past Alcan winners and past competitors so Steve and I and our BMW 325iX were assigned car number four, up front with all the troublemakers. The Saab 900 carrying Dan and Hans have been given car number eight, a good draw based on Dans 2004 entry. Jeff and Marvin are close behind in their Subaru WRX, number 10. Jeff is new to the Alcan but Marvin has Alcan Official credentials. Alcan Rally rookies Marinus and Renee are running their BMW 325iX as car 20, effectively spreading TeamD trash talk throughout the field.
As for classes, the #10 Subaru WRX is class I, passenger cars with unlimited equipment. Our #4 BMW 325iX is also in class I. The Saab will run as class IV, two-wheel drive vehicles with unlimited equipment. Finally, BMW 325iX #20will run class I E, passenger cars with navigational equipment not directly connected to an odometer.
All eight of us will be competing as TeamD for the Alcan Winter Rally Team Award. This award goes to the team of three or four cars (including one rookie team) which scores the highest places in their respective classes. This will add some extra competition but we have assembled an able team that is sure to prevail.
